Clearing Your Garden Ready for the Arrival of Spring

With the nights and mornings still dark and the first continuing to hang in the air, it does currently feel as though spring is a million miles away. However, many of us have already started looking for kawaii platform shoes while others are preparing their gardens for spring

Here are our top tips for preparing your garden for the arrival of spring. This is far from the case, and it’s only a couple of days away from that we’ll start to see bulbs begin to sprout and flower

Keep it Clear of Weeds

Weeds are a gardener’s worst nightmare. If left unattended, weeds can take over your garden, ruining its aesthetics and undoing all of your hard work. With the incredibly cold temperatures experienced in winter, as well as the wind and rain, it can be easy to let garden maintenance slide, leaving it until the spring. However, damage can be done at this time, so you’re best to stay on top of the weeds. Of course, this won’t have to be done as regularly as in the summer as they won’t be growing as quickly. By keeping an eye on them and maintaining them regularly, however, you’ll be ready to plant come the first day of spring.

Buy Bulbs

Buying your bulbs early is the perfect way to prepare, as you can store them easily so you’re ready to plant in the early days of spring. There’s nothing worse than preparing your garden only to find that the bulbs you would like are out of stock. So, one day when it’s raining, or if the frost prevents you from getting out in the garden, sit down with a good cup of tea and order whatever bulbs you require online.

Cut Shrubbery and Foliage

In the winter months, it’s easy to allow your shrubs and foliage to become overgrown and, if you leave this for too long, it can become a mammoth task. However, if you wait for a clear and sunny (albeit cold) winter’s day, you can get most of the work done before the spring months with a strimmer. By doing this before you begin planning your garden aesthetics for the year, you’ll get a better reflection of how your garden’s wintered and what available space you have. You may surprise yourself with how much you can cut back.  To conclude, spring is now only a short time away, so you need to be active in preparing your garden.
